North Australia Railway (NAR)
This page has a collection of
images showing the remains of the old narrow gauge North Australian
Railway,
which ran from Darwin to Birdum, some 500kms. This line was vital in
Australia's Northern defence during
World War 2 and remained in use up until 1974, when Cyclone Tracey, put
an end to the pioneering railway.
