Manoora is situated about half way along this
line, about 37 km south of Burra, in a north - south orientation.
on the western side (left). From right to
left we see two through lines
and on the left two lines diverging. One
obviously going
to the stone goods shed but the other going into bush; this is
hiding the iron goods shed which this line fed. On
the northern
end of the station platform,
and hidden by a tree, was an iron water tower.
the western side leaving a large
area between the two buildings for other vehicular traffic. Furthermore, one of these lines
crossed the
road at the northern end of the station and directly fed the “Pivot”
fertiliser
shed. (An icon of South Australian
agriculture and never far from railway
stations).
had
been built which supplied water to the two towers.
Chris
Bowes has supplied these 2008 photos of Manoora Station and of note,
the old Stone Water Tower has now gone.
You can see a comparison of what the station once looked like and what
it does now, mainly with the over grown grass
and removal of telegraph poles and other rail related objects, but on
the other hand the station building has received a new
corrigated iron roof.
