Boulder City Station, 4th of September 2003
Boulder City Station
, is located to the east of the Boulder town centre, off Burt Street. In
it's hey day, Boulder City Station, was part of
the busiest suburban passenger train service in Australia, as a suburban loop service ran from Kalgoorlie Station, via Trafalgar Station and
or Fimiston Station to Boulder and back up to Kalgoorlie Station. Boulder City Station, had 2 platforms and access to either platform was
via a pedestrian underpass. Boulder Station is a lot smaller then Kalgoorlie Station, but in some ways just as grand, with it's building design
and entrance to the station building, with a nice park and parking area. Unlike Kalgoorlie Station, Boulder Station is constructed with bricks
and timber, where as Kalgoorlie, was constructed with I think, sandstone?.
Boulder Station has stayed much the same for the past 20 years, with the exception of a run around loop being re-instated at the station, to
provide this option for the Boulder Loop Line Tourist Train, which is based at Boulder City Station. They currently have the use of G233
on loan from the ARHSWA, (G233 is a 100+ year old steam locomotive, famous to Western Australian Railfans and also known as the
Lesenault Lady).
They also have an old Y class diesel shunter running in summer times pulling the loop line train out to Kamballie, however, soon the trips out
to Kamballie on one of the last stretches of the orignal loop line will become a thing of the past, as the Super Pit will swallow up the loop lines
route out to Kamballie, however in exchange for that land, the company who own the Super Pit, has put up the funds to re-instate the loop
line from Boulder City Station to Hannans Street, which is a good part of the way to Kalgoorlie Station.
