Tammin
Tammin Station, 31st of May 2003
Opened : 1893
Original Name : Tammin
Station History : Tammin is
another
Station, I don't knowall that much about, I have seen photo's of the
original
station which was demolished in the
1970's, just after the standard gauge line had been layed from
Kalgoorlie to East Perth. Tammin station was very simular to
Kellerberrin's original station and
also very simular to Cunderdin and Doodlakine. For a few years after
the opening of the standard gauge line, the narrow gauge line remained
in use, along
with the stations in these towns, however, newer red brick station were
constructed along the standard gauge line on the outskirts of town,
(the same thing
happened at Cunderdin, Meckering, Doodlakine and Kellerberrin), this
made the old stations redundant and so they were demolished as I said
in
the 1970's.
For roughly 30 years the boring red brick station on the outskirts of
town, was the only station the town had, however in 1995 or 1996, the
current station
was constructed (picured above), it is situated in the middle of town,
in I believe, the position of where the original station was (in a old
photo of the station
I have seen, the tree's in the back ground of that photo look the same
as the ones in the back ground of the photo above, so I'd say it's
pretty close to the
same position).
