Built : Opened, March 1993
Original Name : Edgewater
Station History : Edgewater Station is one of the original
Stations of the Joondalup line and is situated between Whitfords and Joondalup
Stations.
Edgewater Station is part of a new breed of Railway Stations in Western
Australia, because before the Joondalup line opened in March 93, there had
been
no expansion of the suburban passenger service with new railway lines in
100 years, pretty much (for 100 years, the Perth suburban railway network
mainly
consisted of the Midland Line, Fremantle Line and Armadale line, also with
outer suburban services to places like Chidlow and Kalamunda), so this new
line
brought new stations and provided a top notch public transport option to
people living in the northern suburbs of Perth. Apart from all this gerneral
information,
there isn't too much history with these new stations along the Joondalup
line and the same will go for the new Mandurah line Stations.
A short description of Edgewater Station : Edgewater is a far modest Station
compared to the others along the Joondalup line, Edgewater, doesn't have a
giant hanger roof over it, or sound protection for passengers on the platform
from the freeway on either side of the tracks, or esculators providing access
to
the platfoim from overpasses crossing the freeway to bus interchanges, all
this you would find on the other Joondalup Line Stations (except Currambine).
