Leighton
Station Site, 26th May 2003
Built : 1922 (closed July 1991)
Original Name : Leighton
Station History : Today the only evidence of where the
station was situated is the deviation in the suburban line where it
goes under the
leighton footbridge. Also the
footbridge still has a ramp going down to where the platform once was,
however it now just finishes mid air, where
the platform level would have
been.
The station was always
primarily used as a passenger stop for people wanting to go swiming at
the nearby situated Leighton
beach. The Station was separate
from Leighton Marshalling yards, but next to where the yards control
cabin is.
