Openned : 1889
Original Name : Broomehill
Station Facts : The town of Broomehill was settled
just prior to the openning of the Great Southern Railway (GSR),
the town got
it's name because
the Governor of WA at the time
was Governor Broome, both him and he's wife turned the first sods at
Albany and at Beverley (the ends of the GSR Line).
The town was originally spelt
as Broome Hill, however when the GSR openned up it was printed on the
Timetable Broomehill (one word), it wasn't until
1957 that the official spelling
of the town was changed to Broomehill.
