In 1970, Railway employee’s in the town
numbered
280, however by 1995, there was only less then a dozen workers left,
Narrogin
as well as other
railway towns around the country side in WA has
been hit by the downsizing of Westrail by the Government of WA. Today
Narrogin
is literally a shell of
what it once was, with it's rail yard gone and
turned into a bypass road through the town, the station is in disrepair
and only has track along one side of it's
island platform,
the loco depot has been closed, and the only
traffic that passes through the station these days are
bulk wheat train heading to
Kwinana.
