Tambellup Station, 22nd
of
December 2004
Opened :
1889
Original Name : Tambellup
Station History : Originally
at
the time of the GSR line being constructed through Tambellup, the
official
spelling of the area was Tambellelup, however
the GSR Company decided to shorten the name and when the first
timetable for the railway was printed, the station was spelt Tambellup.
Tambellup is also the junction for the Branch line to Gnowangerup.
The station building which still exsists today (pictured above), may
have been constructed between 1910 and the mid 1920's as it shares the
same
design as Brookton, Donnybrook and Wyalkatchem Stations and those
stations were built at various times in that period.
Today all that remains in the station yard, is the old goods crane,
station building and water tower (located to the south of the station
on the eastern side),
the station building is in quite good condition and it is used as a
Wool and Arts and Crafts Shop. The old Stantion Master house is
located north of the
station building and the CBH
silo is also north of the station.
