Windhoek Station and yard, is one of the
main hubs of the Transnamib Railway network, with sidings for the
loading of goods and unloading of fuel,
along with other various forms of freight facilities.
From Windhoek passenger trains depart for Otjiwarongo, Tsumeb,
Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Keetmanshoop/Karasburg and up to the end of
2008, Gobabis.
Windhoek is located in the centre of the Country's railway network,
with lines branching, east to Gobabis, south to Karasburg and the South
African Boarder,
and north, where the line spilts near Karibib and heads further north
to Tsumeb and west to Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
