Classic Locomotive Photos, 2003, Part 2

NR29-8120, on a P24 Light Engine Turn, at Midland, 26th of December
2003.
This was the first time, I had photographed an 81 class and was quite
happy to get the shot,
as I arrived at Midland, 2 seconds before it roared by, coming out of
the Flashbutt.
There's nothing more quieter than being down at Midland Junction on
Christmas Day or Boxing Day, it's almost
relaxing... hours and hours between trains... gives you plenty of time
to read those books you've been given at Christmas.

1907-P2006, on a NG grain, heading east through Midland, 23rd of
December 2003
This was 1907's first trial run, after having it's nose cut down, an
overhaul and being re-numbered from DA1577.
I remember the train coming around the bend from Woodbridge and we were
all wondering, what that was
coming towards us, none of us had expected 1907, as it passed me I was
still wondering, what the hell was
that... then it dawned on me, it was 1907.... ex DA1577.... this was
the first time I had seen it.

G123, with the Etmilyn Train, arriving back at Dwellingup Station, 28th
of September 2003.
Just a classic shot of HVTR operations up at Dwellingup.
I used to go up to Dwellingup quite often, during the steam seasons of
2003 and 2004, it was always worth it, with
all the action around, W class steam loco's and the G... plus a drive
back down to Pinjarra in the arvo, always gave
the oppertunity for a few ARG movements, before heading home.

DB1590, on the Chandala Sands and Coal Train, heading west through
Midland, 29th of December 2003.
The Chandala was one of my favourite trains back in the days, as it was
rare to see a DB north of Forrestfield.

One of the old Prospector Railcars at Midland Terminal, awaiting to
depart on the Avonlink Service to Northam, 15th of December 2003.
Another one of those shots, showing the operations of the day, with the
old Prsopector now long gone.

Pm706-C1703, on the GSR Wizards Express, at Narrogin Station Yard, 10th
of August 2003.
A very rare event in the latter days of HVTR tour specials, was the GSR
Wizards Express, which I rode on from
Narrogin to Katanning and return. It was something I always wanted to
do... ride on a train on the GSR line and
eventually I did the whole line, on board the HVTR Albany Whaler Tour
Train, in 2004.

GM46-GM-CLF?, stabled at Parkeston, 4th of September 2003.
A shot we don't see anymore, GM's are very rare in WA now and I think
this was my first photo of one.

V544-G536, waiting to depart West Kal Yard, to head to Perth, 4th of
September 2003.
My first time out to West Kal, gave me the oppertunity to get this
photo of a SCT train, which was
actually the first time I photographed a SCT train.

L275, on the Esperance Fuel Train, at the Fuel depot at Esperance, 7th
of September 2003.
I had been sitting on the beach, down road watching the sunrise...
nothing better than the sunrise at Esperance... anyways,
I could hear a low rumble.... I could swear it sounded like a train,
idling... so I alked up the road to the Fuel depot and
found the L class sitting there, so as expected, I took a few photos.

T01, on the Woodchipper down at Albany, 18th of August 2003
I only got a couple of photos of T01 on the Woodchipper, as it was only
on the Woodchipper for about 5 mins, when I saw
it working for the only time, this is one of the few photos I took....
photo's a lttle blurry... but this was back in the days of
2 megapixel digital cameras..
