Mount Lawley Station, 29th of March 2003

Built : 1907 (demolished 1968) Current Station built in 1968.
Original Name : Fenian’s Crossing
Station Location :1m 63c (original Station), 1m 77c, 3.2kms from Perth (current Station).
Station Facts : The original Mount Lawley Station was located between the Mount Lawley Subway and the bend where the current station now stands,
to find the exact location of where the station was, when you travel on the train between these two positions, where the point boxes are for the
standard gauge track switch, this is the location where the station was. The original Station, was built on the enbankment at the Subway, with the Perth
bound platform made of wood and on stilts with the main station building constructed on it, while the Midland bound platform was bitumen and had the
signal cabin situated on it. At the Perth end of the platforms a foot bridge was located and also made of wood.

Today Mount Lawley Station stands in the cutting on the bend after the subway heading towards Midland, the station is quite modest, with it only having
a small passenger shelter and access only by the footbridge crossing over the platform at the Perth end of the station.

This shot was taken on 6th of October 1968, from the subway end, showing how both platforms have been shortened, no doubt in preparation for the coming standard gauge project.
Out of sight on the down platform, after the stairs of the footbridge, were a waiting room and the signal box, the latter being against the fence immediately before the platform narrowed.
The bridge across the line in the distance, carried a water main.
