Boyanup Station
Boyanup
Station Yard (A local model railway associations layout) in it's heyday.
Built : 1888
Original Name : Boyanup
Station History : Boyanup
Station, was at the end of the first installment of the railway to
Northcliffe from Bunbury, the line to Boyanup was completed
way before the line from Perth connected to Bunbury. Boyanup was the
junction for the railway lines heading to Northcliffe and to Flinders
Bay, in years gone
by, however now, the line to Flinders Bay, only goes as far as Capel.
Today Boyanup Station survives quietly covered in moss and with the
occasional passing woodchip train heading to Bunbury Port from
Manjimup. Besides the Stations platform, the water tower also has
survived along with the goods platform and carriage or engine shed's
which now house the Boyanup Museum.
Updated
Text.... Today Boyanup Station, sees no activity, as the line
from Picton Junction to Lambert has unoffically closed due to speed
restrictions making the transportation of woodchips unecconomical.
However, hopefully in the near future the line will reopen, as far south
as Greenbushes where the transportation of woodchips or log traffic
will once again commence.
This will still leave the line to Capel, closed and as it has been for
a while the Boyanup Transport Museum, remains closed.
