Built : 1917
Original Name : Zanthus
Station Location : Originally 797kms east of Perth or
202kms east of Kalgoorlie on the Trans Australian Railway Line
Station History : Zanthus Station, opened along with
the Trans Australian Railway Line in 1917, it was named by the
Commonwealth Railways
and derived from the latter
part of the genus name for the Kangaroo Paw, Anigozanthus.
Only a few years ago Zanthus
Station was removed from it's long time home out in the Nullabor Plain
and transported to the ARHS(WA)'s Museum
in Bassendean, it is located at
the back on the museum, along the duel gauge tracks giving access to
the museum and to Goninin United's workshops.
