Built :
November 1894 Original Name : Watheroo Station Facts : Watheroo opened
in 1894, along with the Midland Railway line that had been constructed from
Walkaway. Watheroo was classified as a
class 1 station, made of brick and corrigated iron. There was a refreshment
room at the station and a station masters quarters, where a station master
was in
residence there from November 1894 - 30th of June, 1899, then from 1st of
October 1911 to the 1st of September 1981. Originally Watheroo had a two
track
engine shed and a carriage shed. In 1944 the old engine shed was replaced
with a concrete pillar and brick wall shed. Watheroo originally had a
turntable
however that was replaced with a triangle for turning trains. Water
for the steam locomotives was pumped from a dam 3kms north west of the station.
Today the station still stands, absolutely, seemingly untouched and is
being assessed for National Trust Listing.
