Cue
Station
Cue
Station, November 1977
Cue Station, is very much still around, it's
currently fenced off and requires some restoration work. I can tell
that it
will be eventually used as
the club house for the local
sports ground, as the football oval is positioned in place of the
former railway yard. A steel water tank is located
south of the station and looks
to atleast be 25 years old, so it could have been used by the railways.
The goods platform and crane are
located to the north of the
station. The station is located on the eastern side of town.
The town of Cue is located in
the centre of Western Australia, the railway
line that once ran through the town, was opened at the turn of
the 20th of centuary and was
eventually closed in 1978. Cue was located on
the line that ran from Mullewa, to Meekatharra, this railway
line was originally set up in
response to goldrush towns springing up in
the Murchison region. Most of the stations along this line, were
quite exceptional, as they were
constructed with stone and have lasted the
test of time, except for the ones that were demolished. Only
Cue and Yalgoo still stand
today, Meekatharra's station still stands also,
but it's of a 1960's design of station, simular to Three Springs.
