Magnet Station
Mount Magnet Station,

Mount Magnet
Station, I located the
remains
of the station, just off Naughton Street. The goods platform can easily
be
seen from Naugthon Road,
it's amongst a kids playground.
The platform is quite low, so the ground
must have been raised. The base for the old goods crane is still there
at
the
end of the platform, but there's
no crane. I just happened to turn around
after taking photos of the goods platform and I saw the old platform
for
where the station would have
been. This platform is located between the goods
platform and Naughton ST. Only half of the platform can be seen as
grass and a sports complex
building covers the other half. You can easily
see where the station building would have been, as there is a massive
gravel
car park behind it. I had no
expectations of finding the station in Mt Magnet,
because I had been told the building was a wooden structure and would
have fallen prey to the white
ants, many many years ago, however from doing
research into Mt Magnet Station, it was the same as Cue and Yalgoo,
as it was constructed of stone
with a wooden verandah. The Station building was bulldozed by the Shire
Council at some point.
