Boyup
Brook Station Boyup
Brook Station, 9th of March 2003
Built : 1907? Original Name : Boyup Brook Station History : Boyup Brook, was at the end of the
line from Donnybrook, untill in 1911, the line was opened from Boyup
Brook to Kojonup
and eventually to Katanning. I'm
not sure when the line between Donnybrook
and Boyup Brook closed, or even what the reasons were, however, I do
know that the line between Boyup
Brook and Katanning was closed in 1982, due to it's uneconomical
operations and also because of constant flooding to the
line. Today you can still find traces
of the line out in the bush, you can find relects from the towns or
small settlements that sprung up around the railway siding, like Wilga and Kulikup. Boyup
Brook Station is now a privately owned building, and you can still find
bits of track around the old station yard, the goods shed with crane still survives, as
well as some old covered WAGR wagons, which have been converted into
offices, behind the station.
