Laurier Siding
Laurier
Siding Site, 21st of March 2006
Laurier Siding is located on the
former section of railway which ran from Gnowangerup to Ongerup,
this being the second half of the Tambellup to Ongerup Branch
Line.
The siding is located between Borden and Toompup Sidings and is
actually a hard one to find, if you don't check out google maps
and follow the old rail formation through
the paddocks. This section of line closed in the 1950's, however
the Out-of-Shed at Laurier Siding, remained in place and
standing for 50 years or more, after the closure of
the line. I visited the site for the first time in April of 2012
and sadly found the Out-of-Shed had finally fallen apart and lay
on the ground as it fell.
